WHAT IS RAZA
"La Raza" (The Race) is a broad term which refers to those whose ancestry is indigenous to the area of Mexico (or "Aztlan"). MEChA members refer to themselves as "La Raza" or "Raza," but the term itself is used to indicate camaraderie among those in different organizations with the same objectives. There are a number of organizations who consider themselves to be La Raza.
The most visible of these groups are MEChA, The Brown Berets de Aztlan, OLA (Organization for the Liberation of Aztlan), La Raza Unida Party, and the "Nation of Aztlan" to name a few. Although the activism of these organizations vary from somewhat radical to extremely radical, they share the same objectives, the "liberation of Aztlan." Each follows the Raza manifesto "El Plan de Aztlan (sometimes called "El Plan Espiritual de Aztlan"). The Nation of Aztlan, tied to La Voz de Aztlan disseminates the exact same propaganda that MEChA spreads including antisemitic propaganda. Believers in the Aztlan legend insist upon the indivisibility of "La Raza" and their common goals, one of them being the need to abolish the border between the U.S. and Mexico. There is a myriad of Raza college newspaper. Some are El Popo, Aztlan News, Chispas, Gente de Aztlan (UCLA), Voz Fronteriza (U.C. San Diego), La Voz Mestiza (U.C. Irvine) and La Voz Berkeley. It is not uncommon for the writers of these publications to refer to the U.S., as "AmeriKKKa."
Rhetoric by some Chicano educators strongly suggest Communist or Socialist leanings. In May, 2000, more than 1,200 students gathered at UCLA for the seventh annual Raza Youth Conference, which the members say promotes higher education and recognition of the Aztlan culture. Sponsored by MEChA, the year's theme was "Reclaiming Our Razas through education, resistance, and promoting the idea of remembering the historical struggles of Raza" said Erika Ramirez, co-chair of the conference. The conference drew students from 80 middle and high schools and community colleges; featured speeches by those actively involved with the Chicano community.
The keynote speaker was Antonia Darder, a professor of education and cultural studies at Claremont Graduate University and director of the Institute for Cultural Studies in Education, who received a standing ovation for her speech.
Darder described American capitalism and what she said were its impacts on racism and sexism. "I grew up in a capitalist society, a society that taught us that the greed of corporations control politics," Darder said. "Capitalism is the root of domination. Racism and sexism exist because capitalism requires it." Darder said a globalized economy forced smaller countries to give up their self-sufficiency, resulting in people migrating to the U.S. "We're here because U.S. foreign policy in Latin America has forced us here," she said.
The University of Oregon Chapter of MEChA hints at its communist sentiments by posting a picture of Cuba's communist dictator Fidel Castro. On its web site, "La Voz de Aztlan" has an excerpt from a speech of February 7, 1997, by Fidel Castro who said "the United States should return to Mexico huge chunks of that country's territories it acquired more than a century ago" La Voz de Aztlan, whom Antonio Villaraigosa refuses to repudiate, also disseminates antisemitic propaganda,
Apparently, these "Raza" cults are composed of people who unabashedly hate the United States and often support other groups and leaders who also hate America. Raza's hatred of America is so intense, that most make bedfellows to anyone else who also hates America, like dictator Fidel Castro; murderer of his own people Sadam Hussain; and the women hating Taliban -- and of course they sympathize with all Islamic Terrorists over the Israel/Palestine issue. Raza cults are the loudest and most insistent element of the immigration lobby in California. Inebriated with a sense of righteous victimhood, and entranced by myths of a heroic racial past, devotees of the Aztlan cults are rapidly extending their influence within California's Hispanic population, particularly among students in the university system. Mexifornia, a state of becoming.

Hussein, the Taliban, and Bin Laden were all allies of the US at one point. Does the US hate America? I can provide evidence of different administrations cuddling up with woman-oppressing tyrants who openly state that the US' presence in Iraq is an illegitimate, foreign occupation, such as the recent arms deal with the Saudis. Could you provide evidence of links of La Raza with Hussein or anybody who is not an English-speaking Gringo?
La Raza is a Gringo outfit and, as such, made up of ignorant-of-the-world, monolingual, Gringo bourgeois. The only difference between you and them is that they are PC and you are not.
Excuse me, you are PC. You never rant against those with real power.
National-security adviser Mowaffaq al-Rubie says that Saudis account for half the suicide bombings in Iraq. U.S. military estimates agree, and put Iraqis a distant second
The Bush administration is preparing to ask Congress to approve an arms sale package for Saudi Arabia and its neighbors that is expected to eventually total $20 billion at a time when some United States officials contend that the Saudis are playing a counterproductive role in Iraq
Does Bush hate America?
Those groups mentioned may be "gringo" (American) but they are made up of mostly those of hispanic ethnicity and Mexican ancestry. Most of the members are not mono-lingual. They are bi-lingual Spanish/English speakers.

OK, so they are brownish. What is your point? They have no cultural links to Mexico which is evident by their acceptance of an imposed "Hispanic" identity based on an ancestor. That notion, multiculturalism, is pure Gringo.
Most of the members are not mono-lingual. They are bi-lingual Spanish/English speakers.
Just state as facts what you need to believe, Tweety. You have absolutely no evidence to back your statement. However, I do understand that granting a fake ethnic group a distinct cultural attribute, such as bilingualism, is central to multiculturalism. If you take that away, the difference boils down to mere race, which is terribly un-PC.
Lupita, I was merely disagreeing with your statement that those groups are comprised of mono-lingual members. I know for a fact that they are not. Most are bi-lingual Spanish/English speakers. And most certainly do have cultural ties to Mexico. It is a fact and reality.
Ultima, I signed in as tweety. I don't know why my remark came up as anonymous.
You know for a fact nothing, you are simply stating as fact what you need to believe: that "Hispanics" are en "ethnic group" with a distinct culture which is Latin American. If you did not believe this, you would have to accept that American ancestry groups are just the official way of categorizing, more or less, people by race and ascribing each "ethnic group" a culture, makes this reality less grating to you. Do you also believe that Blacks celebrate Kwanzaa and speak a language called Ebonics?
La Raza's web site is in English only. Provide me with a single communique, interview, whatever, in Spanish as proof. If you could, that still would not prove that most are bilingual. Give me one link in which a tie to Mexico is mentioned.
I am Mexican, I know for a fact that those idiots never cross the border or even send an email to communicate with us, not even in English. They are unknown to Mexicans.
Please post photo so we can see what a non-gringo looks like.
The term "Hispanic" is absolutely absurd; I'll give you some examples as to why:
First: The term "Hispanic," as is used in the United States, only exists in the United States. You will never hear it used in Mexico, Guatemala, Uruguay, or any other Spanish speaking country.
Second: Cameron Diaz is "Hispanic" while Bill Richardson is "White." Meaning that the only factor used in classifying one as "Hispanic" is a surname.
It also means that all lupita has to do to become "White" is marry ultima. LOL.
Third: Alex Rodriguez is "Hispanic" while Derek Jeter is "Black." Meaning that a person who looks "Black" can be classified as "Hispanic."
Which is why Deborah King went from "Black" to "Hispanic" when she married Carlos Santana and became Deborah Santana.
Taking the preceding into consideration; lupita cannot show ultima a photo of a non-gringo American as a non-gringo American (ie. Hispanic) is defined in the United States, simply because they don't exist to her.
The more your knowledge on true Mexican (and Latin American) culture and history expands the easier it will be for you to see that "Mexican-Americans" (African-Americans as well) are about as far away from being Mexican (African) and as close to being American as tweety. LOL. They are as American as Taco Bell and Doritos, just like La Raza.
I'm not sure you have that completely right, Mirror. First, I have Richardson referred to as Hispanic. And I look on the term Hispanic as being synonymous with Latino, a way of referring to all those from Latin America. While that might make sense in America, it doesn't make sense to a Uruguayan. I don't think Argentines refer to themselves as Americans even though in the broader sense they are.
La Raza = American? Not for a few more years until Atzlan holds sway over the Southwest. Even then they will be called Atzlanistas not Americans, if they have their way.
Does Bush hate America? No, I think he is just plain stupid. One thing you can be sure of if the Saudis don't buy the weapons from us, they will buy them from the French or the Russians. Do you have a preference?
If La Raza is a Gringo outfit, then it must be an unAmerican gringo outfit.
Sorry Ulty. You are way off base. I answered your _______ on my blog. http://immigrationmexicanamerican.blogspot.com/
And I look on the term Hispanic as being synonymous with Latino, a way of referring to all those from Latin America.
So the torture lawyer, Alberto Gonsalez (sic) is Latin American? Nooo, sir, he is all yours. You know perfectly well that the terms Hispanic and Latino are used for Gringos and then you incorporated true Latin Americans into your meaningless, fake "ethnic group" that does not discriminate between natives and foreigners. And then you want true Latin Americans to identify using terms that to us mean something entirely different. Never!
I don't think Argentines refer to themselves as Americans even though in the broader sense they are.
They do, albeit in Spanish. "Americano" means "from the Americas".
One thing you can be sure of if the Saudis don't buy the weapons from us, they will buy them from the French or the Russians. Do you have a preference?
All war merchants are the same. Do you prefer the war merchants that share your nationality?
I just go by the dictionary and the U.S. census to define the word hispanic which is anyone whose roots are from a Spanish speaking country who share a common culture.
I guess anyone can define themselves anyway they want to but I always go by the most common and accepted terms at least in my own country.
Just like some like to refer to illegal aliens as the undocumented or just plain immigrants, I accept the legal term for them which is illegal aliens.
As I understand it, Bill Richardson would be classified as "White" in the US Census based on his prominent language and surname.
As I understand it, "Hispanic" and "Latino" are not the same: "Hispanic" refers to Spanish-speaking peoples; "Latino" refers to peoples who speak languages with a Latin origin, the Romantic languages; Catalan, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and French.
It is about language, however, when the language is forgotten--and with it the faux customs--as is typical in the United States, you still remain "Hispanic," because of your surname.
Which is why I bring up Cameron Diaz, who cannot speak Spanish, yet is still classified as "Hispanic" or "Latin" because of her surname.
The NAACP, La Raza, and the Aryan Nation are all American.
What America gets, among other things, for classifying its peoples, not as low, middle, upper, and elite Americans, but as ethnic groups is an industry that thrives because of this system of classifying people.
This industry spreads from popular culture, such as comedians Larry the Cable Guy, Dave Chappelle, and Carlos Mencia, whose fame and fortunes are based on our system of classifying people, to how people vote; 90% (?) of Blacks voting democrat.
tweety, millions of "Hispanics" in the US were not raised in Spanish speaking homes and do not speak Spanish, does that mean they are not "Hispanic" anymore? That's what we are to assume if we look at the definition of "Hispanic" in the dictionary.
If you want to go by culture, well, most young Hispanic Americans are into the "hip-hop" culture of the United States. That culture does not exist, at least not nearly as prominently, in Mexico or any other Latin American country.
What being "Hispanic" comes down to, after you take into account the lost language and the loss of even their faux culture, is a surname, which is why I don't take it seriously.
Here is definition I found in the dictionary that implies that genetics play a role in classifying one as a "hispanic".
"Also, Hispano. Also called Hispanic American, Hispano-American. an American citizen or resident of Spanish or Latin-American descent."
In otherwords ancestry appears to play a role in whether or not one is a hispanic.
Ancestry, in this case, is about surnames; not language, which is forgotten within a few generations; not culture, which is an imitation to begin with.
Regardless of the Romance language thing, I doubt you would find any Frenchman who considers himself to be a Latino or Hispanic. That would be like considering himself to be a gringo.
And the same goes for Mexicans.
That's interesting Mirror because there are some quarters in the Mexican community who consider gringos who use the term "Mexican" to be insulting them. How do you explain that?
"All war merchants are the same. Do you prefer the war merchants that share your nationality?"
Actually, I do. It will make more work for illegal aliens and keep them out of the charity wards and welfare lines.
"The term "Hispanic" is absolutely absurd; I'll give you some examples as to why:"
I agree. There are others who tend to use this term more than I do.
Actually, I do. It will make more work for illegal aliens and keep them out of the charity wards and welfare lines.
Money, money, money...
there are some quarters in the Mexican community who consider gringos who use the term "Mexican" to be insulting them. How do you explain that?
I explain it by the fact that there are Gringo impersonators within the "Mexican community". Only a Gringo would consider a nationality a term of insult. That is because many nationalities (3rd world ones) are euphemisms for low class which is definitely an insult in the US.
