Working for logical immigation reform based on a stable population, a recognition of the finite nature of our natural resources and the adverse impact of continued growth on our quality of life, standard of living, national interest, character, language, sovereignty and the rule of law. Pushing back and countering the disloyal elements in American society and the anti-American rhetoric of the leftwing illegal alien lobbies. In a debate, when your opponents turn to name calling, it's a good sign you've already won.

Dee Perez-Scott --Obama overlooks the most important gun issue

“The single most important factor that has caused the political left to demand an end to private firearms ownership is that the underclass has, over the last fifty years, expanded exponentially, bringing with it an exponential increase in crime.  Many of these criminals come from the single-parent families encouraged by the welfare system, a dysfunctional government give-away favored by the far left.  The absence of fathers has led large numbers of children to seek gangs as a substitute for parenting not available at home.  Not content with having created an entire class of welfare-bred criminals, the political left now seeks to protect this underclass by rendering ordinary citizens defenseless against crime perpetrated by these criminals.”
In sum, both blacks and whites are part of this criminal underclass, but, as Juan Williams points out, blacks, a 13% minority, are doing 54% of the killing and dying.  That needs to be said.
Why is this happening?  According to Juan Williams, the out of wedlock birth rate for blacks is now 72%.  This leads to more than 70% of black mothers being on welfare raising more than 70% of black children without fathers.
That’s part of the problem.  Another part, Williams says, is:
“a dysfunctional gangster-rap culture that glorifies promiscuity, drug dealers and the power of the gun.”
So now we have black culture of violence financed by the welfare system producing what are – by any measure – distorted values.  One might think this needs to be addressed.
Not so.  The President of the United States recently invited the gangster rapper Jay-Z to his inauguration.  Jay-Z is the black poster boy for the value system that Juan Williams says is destroying the black community.  Inviting him to the presidential inauguration is, by implication, an endorsement of the mindlessness characteristic of Jay-Z and his supporters.
But Obama is not a moralist.  He is a politician who panders himself to the black vote and avoids criticizing the criminal culture that has enslaved his people.  Obama made no move toward gun control until a white madman killed young children at Sandy Hook.  In Obama’s mind, that single act instantly transformed the “gun problem” into a white (not black) problem.  It is about white misconduct, not about blacks, black culture or black behavior.
Guess what. It’s still about blacks.  They are victims and killers in disproportionate numbers.  An occasional white maniac does not erase that.  People who want to reduce homicide by gun need to focus on curbing a black culture that has caused the problem in the first place.
Banning guns to cure black murderousness, crime and cultural deficiencies is like banning popsicles to deal with an outbreak of the Ebola virus.

Uncomfortable Facts

BUCHANAN TO OBAMA
By Patrick J.. Buchanan

Barack says we need to have a conversation
about race in America ..
Fair enough.
But this time,
it has to be a two-way conversation..
White America needs to be heard from,
not just lectured to....
This time,
the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions,
grievances and demands heard.
And among them are these:

First,
America has been the best country on earth for black folks.
It was here that 600,000 black people,
brought from Africa in slave ships,
grew into a community of 40 million,
were introduced to Christian salvation,
and reached the greatest levels
of freedom and prosperity blacks have ever known..
Jeremiah Wright ought to go down on his knees
and thank God he is an American.

Second,
no people anywhere has done more to lift up blacks
than white Americans.
Untold trillions have been spent since the '60s
on welfare, food stamps, rent supplements,
Section 8 housing, Pell grants, student loans,
legal services, Medicaid, Earned Income Tax Credits
and poverty programs designed
to bring the African-American community
into the mainstream.
Governments, businesses and colleges
have engaged in discrimination against white folks --
with affirmative action,
contract set-asides and quotas --
to advance black applicants over white applicants.
Churches, foundations, civic groups, schools
and individuals all over America
have donated their time and money to support
soup kitchens, adult education, day care,
retirement and nursing homes for blacks.
We hear the grievances.
Where is the gratitude??

Barack talks about new 'ladders of opportunity' for blacks.
Let him go to Altoona ?
And Johnstown ,
and ask the white kids in Catholic schools
how many were visited
lately by Ivy League recruiters handing out scholarships
for 'deserving' white kids...?
Is white America really responsible
for the fact that the crime and incarceration rates
for African-Americans are seven times those of white America ?
Is it really white America 's fault that illegitimacy
in the African-American community has hit 70 percent
and the black dropout rate from high schools
in some cities has reached 50 percent?

Is that the fault of white America or,
first and foremost,
a failure of the black community itself?

As for racism,
its ugliest manifestation is in interracial crime,
and especially interracial crimes of violence.
Is Barack Obama aware
that while
white criminals choose black victims 3 percent of the time,

black criminals choose white victims 45 percent of the time?

Is Barack aware
that black-on-white rapes are 100 times
more common than the reverse,
that black-on-white robberies
were 139 times as common
in the first three years of this decade
as the reverse?

We have all heard
ad nauseam from the Rev. Al about Tawana Brawley,
the Duke rape case and Jena .
And all turned out to be hoaxes.
But about the epidemic of black assaults
on whites that are real,
we hear nothing.

Sorry, Barack,
some of us have heard it all before,
about 40 years and 40 trillion tax dollars ago.
This needs to be passed around because,
this is a message everyone needs to hear!!!

Dee Perez-Scott: Obama's Muslim Brotherhood Summer

The Muslim Brotherhood celebrates in Tahrir Square after their Islamist candidate, Mohammed Morsi, has been confirmed as the winner of  the Egyptian presidential election.  How many women can you count in this picture?

Th supporters of the military's choice said they did not want to see the Muslim Brotherhood come to power and impose their Islamic agenda. They say the talk is that  the U.S. helped to empower the Muslim Brotherhood and that the Obama Administration has no idea how dangerous and radical the Muslim Brotherhood is.    On the other hand, this may well be exactly what Obama wanted . The Arab Spring is turning into the Obama Muslim Brotherhood Summer.

One has to wonder why any women in Egypt voted for Morsi since they will sent to the back of the bus once he is sworn in.  Who knows what the full range of restriction's on women will be?  Will they be allowed to drive?  Will they have to wear a bhurkas?  Will their husbands be allowed to beat them as necessary?  This would be an excellent place for Dsee Perez-Scott to learn a lesson she would never forget.  Should we buy her a one way ticket to Egypt?

Dee Perez-Scott: DREAM Amnesty

Dee Perez-Scott, as she calls herself on her un-American blog, is a zealous supporter of all illegal aliens and the Administration which continues to flaunt the law with selective enforcement. However, that name is as phony as her blog photo.  She substituted the photo of a movie star for her own photo.  She must be ashamed of her pudgy body.  In her latest rant about the illegal DREAM amnesty she says that Romney is pandering to the Hispanics but then insults Sarah Palin because she said the same thing about Obama.  This is just another example of Perez-Scott’s confused thinking.  Her rhetoric indicates that if Palin is nutty then that makes Obama equally nutty.

Politicians always pander to voting blocs as a necessary evil to getting elected.  When we look at the facts in this case, it is obvious that Obama’s action on DREAM was an overt manifestation of his pandering to Hispanics.  Why else would he announce this new policy only a few months before the election?  He wants their votes, every one of them, legal or illegal.  The Congress turned down the DREAM Act and Obama has the effrontery to ignore that fact and proceed on this own.  Obviously, he believes in government by fiat – in a word dictatorship.   First he ignores the laws he doesn’t like then when the Congress says no, he ignores that and proceeds via executive order.  Obama says send me the DREAM bill and I will sign it.  Sorry Obama but that’s not the way it works.  You may propose anything but Congress disposes.

Asked whether he would reverse the Obama DREAM amnesty executive order, or whatever Obamae is calling it these days, Romney made a mistake in not being more forthright on this issue.  He should have said, “Yes, I will rescind this order on the basis that it is an illegal usurpation of the role of Congress.  If the Congress sends me a bill that is fair to legal immigrants and provides some form of relief for illegal aliens brought to this country as young children by their parents, I will sign it.   However, I will insist that every DREAM applicant must have served in the Armed Forces for not less than 4 years.  During that time they will be able to earn money to help them pay for a college education.  Hopefully, that experience will deepen their love for this country, remove any stigma associated with their illegal status, and mature them in a way that later will enable them to be more successful in college.”
My own thoughts on this matter are in accord with the following paraphrase of a comment on another blog by a poster known only as v.  He says that we need to keep in mind that these illegals are not our children…they are Foreign Nationals born to two illegal aliens….born using the US welfare system and still continuing to suck up US taxpayer dollars! They refuse to speak English…even though we pay thousands more to educate an illegal alien than we pay to educate a US citizen…they are disruptive in class…are gang members…allow their children to tear up merchandise in stores……. In no way are they an asset to the US!  (end if my paraphrase of v's comment)

They speak their native language as well as their parents and could be a real asset in their homelands. Their exposure to the American republic and its ideas might enable them to change the governments and economies in their homelands for the better.  They have been parasites on the American economy for too long.  It is time for them to give back by leaving forthwith to seek their fortunes in their homelands.  If they are indeed among the best and the brightest of the illegals, that should not be a problem.

The problem or question that all Hispanics and others should ponder is: Will an America with 600 million people have the same standard of living and quality of life as an America with 300 million or less.  Those who choose to put their heads in the sand will be responsible for recreating the very conditions that caused them or their parents to flee their homelands.  This is what the pro-immigration propagandists are unlikely to mention.

v. continues, Rubio has shown that he represents the Interest of Foreign Nationals and Illegal Aliens….He has chosen to ignore what is in the best interest of legal US citizens! Most of us have been here for hundreds of years and we are being ignored! It’s time to take our country back…..No one has the right to enterr the US unless we invite them.  Obama has no authority to do this in violation of immigration laws. And it’s Time to remove the welcome mat! We have allowed too many Foreign Nationals into the US in too short a time. Approximately 7 Million since Obama took Office…they took my job and my friends next it will be yours or your Childs JOB!

Dee Perez-Scott: Obama's Marxism on Display

Dee Perez-Scott: Obama's Marxismm on Display
Subject: Washington Post looks at Obama
Well! It seems the liberal Washington Post just had an epiphany. It doesn’t matter if the recipients of this are R’s or D’s, the fact remains that this reporter got closer to the truth than anything I’ve seem come out of the Post up to now. I am not thrilled with the gaggle of wannabes being held up for evaluation (ridicule?) by the R’s, but to simply vote this guy back in with another four years f “Hope and Change” isn’t going to do us much good. It’s too bad the D’s don’t decide to go find a more moderate
candidate to run at the conventions. There is a large segment of the population who don’t have a candidate yet, on either of the two extremes. I don’t think any of us want to hear any more of: “I am more conservative, more liberal, or more progressive than he/she is.” Some of us would prefer, “I am
more reasonable in my thought processes. There are progressive and conservative things to look at, but there is an established set of values and practices which should not be thrown out or treated as politically incorrect.” I can’t imagine anybody in their right mind who would want to touch the hem of the garment of these bums.

Obama: The Affirmative Action President by Matt Patterson
(columnist - Washington Post, New York Post, San Francisco Examiner)
Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, a baffling breed of mass
hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages. How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many
into thinking he could manage the world's largest economy, direct the world's most powerful military, execute the world's most consequential job?
Imagine a future historian examining Obama's pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a "community organizer"; a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, so often did he vote "present"); and finally an unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the
entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions. He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as a legislator.
And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama's
"spiritual mentor"; a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama's colleague and political sponsor. It is easy to imagine a future historian
looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected president?
Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal: To be sure, no white candidate who had close associations with an
outspoken hater of America like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant terrorist like Bill Ayers, would have lasted a single day. But because Mr. Obama was Black, and therefore entitled in the eyes of liberaldom to have hung out with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were a bit
extreme, he was given a pass.
Let that sink in: Obama was given a pass -- held to a lower standard -- because of the color of his skin. Podhoretz continues: And in any case, what did such ancient history matter when he was also so articulate and elegant and (as he himself had said)
"non-threatening," all of which gave him a fighting chance to become the first black president and thereby to lay the curse of racism to rest?

Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama phenomenon -- affirmative action. Not in the legal sense, of course. But certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws and regulations, which are designed primarily to make white people, and especially white liberals, feel good about themselves. Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat
themselves on the back. Liberals routinely admit minorities to schools for which they are not qualified, yet take no responsibility for the inevitable poor performance and high drop-out rates [and dumbing down] which follow.
Liberals don't care if these minority students fail; liberals aren't around to witness the emotional devastation and deflated self esteem resulting from
the racist policy that is affirmative action. Yes, racist. Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color of his skin -- that's affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn't
racism, then nothing is. And that is what America did to Obama.
True, Obama himself was never troubled by his lack of
achievements, but why would he be? As many have noted, Obama was told he was good enough for Columbia despite undistinguished grades at Occidental; he
was told he was good enough for the US Senate despite a mediocre record in Illinois; he was told he was good enough to be president despite no record at all in the Senate. All his life, every step of the way, Obama was told he was good enough for the next step, in spite of ample evidence to the contrary. What could this breed if not the sort of empty narcissism on display every time Obama speaks?
In 2008, many who agreed that he lacked executive qualifications nonetheless raved about Obama's oratory skills, intellect, and cool character. Those people -- conservatives included -- ought now to be deeply embarrassed. The man thinks and speaks in the hoariest of clichés, and that's when he has his teleprompter in front of him; when the prompter is
absent he can barely think or speak at all. Not one original idea has ever issued from his mouth -- it's all warmed-over Marxism of the kind that has failed over and over again for 100 years.

And what about his character? Obama is constantly blaming anything and everything else for his troubles. Bush did it; it was bad luck; I
inherited this mess. It is embarrassing to see a president so willing to advertise his own powerlessness, so comfortable with his own incompetence. But really, what were we to expect? The man has never been responsible for anything, so how do we expect him to act responsibly?
In short: our president is a small and small-minded man, with neither the temperament nor the intellect to handle his job. When you understand that, and only when you understand that, will the current erosion
of liberty and prosperity make sense. It could not have gone otherwise with such a man in the Oval Office.

(Reader comment: I think too many miss the fact that Obama's intentions are to ruin this country; reduce it to a third-world country level; redistribute the
wealth that it produces and make it suffer. He was taught to hate America.)

Dee Perez-Scott: Obama's Girl Friends

This is worth "thinking about", but I don't believe one has to think too hard to come to the "right" conclusion - it's almost unbelievable (scary, would be more appropriate) that this could happen!!

WHERE ARE THE GIRLFRIENDS of OBAMA?
I hadn't thought about this - but where are O's past girlfriends - surely he had at least one? No past girl friends popping up anywhere? Strange - strange to the point of being downright weird!
OK, this is just plain old common sense, no political agendas for either side. Just common knowledge for citizens of a country, especially American citizens, who know every little tidbit about every other president (and their wives) that even know that Andrew Jackson's wife smoked a corn cob pipe and was accused of adultery, or that Lincoln never went to school or Kennedy wore a back brace or Truman played the piano.
We are Americans! Our Media vets these things out! We are known for our humanitarian interests and caring for our 'fellow man.' We care, but none of us know one single humanizing fact about the history of our own president.
Honestly, and this is a personal thing ... but it's bugged me for years that no one who ever dated him ever showed up. Taken his charisma, which caused the women to be drawn to him so obviously during his campaign, looks like some lady would not have missed the opportunity....
We all know about JFK's magnetism, McCain was no monk, Palin's courtship and even her athletic prowess were probed. Biden's aneurysms are no secret. Look at Cheney and Clinton-we all know about their heart problems. How could I have left out Wild Bill before or during the White House?
Nope... not one lady has stepped up and said, "He was soooo shy," or "What a great dancer!"
Now look at the rest of what we know... no classmates, not even the recorder for the Columbia class notes ever heard of him.
Who was the best man at his wedding? Start there. Check for groomsmen. Then get the footage of the graduation ceremony.
Has anyone talked to the professors? Isn't it odd that no one is bragging that they knew him or taught him or lived with him.
When did he meet Michele and how? Are there photos? Every president provides the public with all their photos, etc. for their library. What has he released? Nada - other than what was in this so-called biography! And experts who study writing styles, etc. claim it was not O's own words or typical of his speech pat terns, etc.
Does this make any of you wonder?
Ever wonder why no one ever came forward from Obama's past, saying they knew him, attended school with him, was his friend, etc. ?
Not one person has ever come forward from his past.
This should really be a cause for great concern. Did you see the movie titled, The Manchurian Candidate?
Let's face it. As insignificant as we all are... someone whom we went to school with remembers our name or face...someone remembers we were the clown or the dork or the brain or the quiet one or the bully or something about us.
George Stephanopoulos, notable democrat, ABC News said the same thing during the 2008 campaign. Even George questions why no one has acknowledged that the president was in their classroom or ate in the same cafeteria or made impromptu speeches on campus. Stephanopoulos was a classmate of Obama at Columbia-class of 1984. He says he never had a single class with him.
Since he is such a great orator, why doesn't anyone in Obama's college class remember him? And, why won't he allow Columbia to release his records? Do you like millions of others, simply assume all this is explainable - even though no one can?

NOBODY REMEMBERS OBAMA AT COLUMBIA
Looking for evidence of Obama's past, Fox News contacted 400 Columbia University students from the period when Obama claims to have been there, but not one remembers him. For example,Wayne Allyn Root was (like Obama) a political science major at Columbia , who graduated in 1983. In 2008, Root says of Obama, "I don't know a single person at Columbia that knew him, and they all know me. I don't have a single classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia ... EVER!
Nobody recalls him.
Root adds that he was, "Class of '83 political science, pre-law" and says, "You don't get more exact or closer than that. Never met him in my life, don't know anyone who ever met him."
At our 20th class reunion five years ago, who was asked to be the speaker of the class? Me. No one ever heard of Barack! And five years ago, nobody even knew who he was. The guy who writes the class notes, who's kind of the, as we say in New York, 'the macha' who knows everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who ever met him."
Obama's photograph does not appear in the school's yearbook, and Obama consistently declines requests to talk about his years at Columbia , provide school records, or provide the name of any former classmates or friends while at Columbia .
How can this be?
NOTE: Wayne Allyn Root can easily be verified. He graduated valedictorian from his high school, Thornton-Donovan School , then graduated from Columbia University in 1983 as a Political Science major in the same '83 class in which Barack Hussein Obama states he was.
Some other interesting questions.
Why was Obama's law license inactivated in 2002?
Why was Michelle's law license inactivated by court order?
According to the U.S. Census, there is only one Barack Obama - but 27 Social Security numbers and over 80 aliases.
WHAT!?
The Social Security number he uses now originated in Connecticut where he is never reported to have lived.
No wonder all his records are sealed!
Please continue sending this out to everyone. Somewhere, someone had to know him in school...before he "reorganized" Chicago and burst upon the scene at the 2004 Democratic Convention and made us swoon with his charm, poise, and speaking pizzazz.
One of the biggest CONS this country has ever seen, and they are getting away with it.
Obama is the most secret and devious president in history. There must be many significant things in his past that, if revealed, would quickly show those who voted for him the error of their ways. His failure to disclose his original birth certificate, his visa and financial aid application record, and all of the above indicate he is not the persona he displays to the public. He is playing the game of non-disclosure, opaqueness, and obfuscation with great adeptness. That should earn him a quick exit from the White House when his term expires if not before.

Dee Perez-Scott: Here's what your president should say next Thursday.

WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S. PRESIDENT OBAMA GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?

'My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of the Iraq regime has been completed.

Since Congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq . This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short. The United Kingdom , Spain , Bulgaria , Australia , and Poland are some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains every one not on the first list. Most of the world's nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war.

THEN EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER IT WILL GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO IT WON’T GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hell holes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France ...

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home. On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.

Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France or maybe China.

I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France, and Russia. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York.

A special note to our neighbors: Canada is on List 2. Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not ticking us off for a change.

Mexico is also on List 2. Its president and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. Keep your tired, your hungry, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, and the wretched refuse of your teeming country. Give your people the government and the freedom they deserve. Stop dumping your problems in our backyard.

I will have a couple thousand extra tanks and a few infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going to put 'em? Yep, border security.

Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty - starting now. Mexican trucks and smugglers will no longer be welcome on our highways. You can unhitch at the border. We’ll take it from there.

We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska -which will take care of this country's oil needs for decades to come. If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, ‘exactly.'

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America. It is time to eliminate homelessness in America.
To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thank you guys.
We owe you and we won't forget.

To the nations on List 2, a final thought: You might want to learn to speak Arabic.

God bless America ...
Thank you and good night.'

Dee Perez-Scott Help Strengthen & Improve the DREAM Act

Late last year, the U.S. Senate tried but failed to muster the votes necessary to pass the so-called DREAM Act, often referred to by its opponents as the Nightmare Act. Through the courage of a few of its members, the Senate narrowly averted the terrible mistake of authorizing a deeply-flawed bill that would have afforded a backdoor approach to amnesty for hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens. But despite the near mistake of the past year, Sen. Michael Bennett (D,CO) has now joined Sen. Dick Durbin (D,NY) in re-introducing this unfortunate bill. This bill is best characterized as an effort to grant illegal aliens, far too cheaply it turns out, the opportunity to become citizens. It is basically a back door amnesty bill.

One of the Senators' selling points for the bill is the possibility of a new source of recruits for the armed forces. Actually no new legislation is necessary to give these young people a chance to give back to this country through military service. According to Defense Secretary Robert Gates, about 35,000 non-citizens already serve and 8,000 permanent resident aliens enlist in our Armed Forces every year. What’s keeping those who would come under this bill from doing likewise? That is the best way for them to prove their patriotism and loyalty to the U.S. while at the same time opening a pathway to citizenship for them. Two years of college is not nearly an adequate substitute for four years of military service.

So what needs to be done to strengthen this bill and narrow its scope to those who are especially worthy?

First of all, the military enlistment requirement needs to be increased to four years. To be eligible for consideration, each applicant must serve a four year enlistment in the armed forces. College or some other form of service is not an acceptable substitute for military service and therefore must be eliminated in the revised bill. Since almost anyone can successfully complete two years at a community college, this old DREAM Act provision provided an unwarranted opportunity to gain access to the citizenship benefits without any real commitment to this country. Countless men and women have had to put their lives and their college educations on hold while they served their country. Many citizens enlisted for four years when our country called. I was one of them and I met many more who interrupted their college educations to meet the call. An Act strengthened to require applicants to enlist for four years in the military would assist with military recruiting and readiness.

Second, the bill as written is very weak on enforcement and audit. Applicants must be required to present at least four forms of notarized documents sworn under oath and subject to perjury charges that prove they meet all of the bill’s criteria. One of these documents must be an honorable discharge from military service.

Third, this one time window of opportunity to apply must be narrowed to the six month period following the president’s signature of the bill. During that six month period there must be a continuous audit of valid statistical samples of the applications to determine the extent of attempted fraud. To discourage fraud, fraudulent applications should result in immediate deportation without recourse.

Fourth, successful applicants must be specifically prohibited from ever sponsoring other relatives for permanent residency.

An Act, strengthened as outlined above, will, by no means, be a silver bullet. The Congress must take action to tighten the immigration system to: (1) reduce the total legal immigration quota to the level of the 1950s, about 250,000 per year exclusive of foreign students, tourists and temporary farm workers; (2) level the playing field for relatives and non-relatives of citizens or permanent residents and count all of them against the overall quota; (3) limit the special consideration to the spouses and minor children of citizens; (4) secure the border through intensive and continuous internal enforcement to crack down on illegal aliens and their employers through the mandatory use of E-verification across the board for all employers , public and private, and all employees, both current and potential new hires; (5) sentence immediately every illegal alien who is apprehended to a six month term working on border infrastructure before he is deported with the admonition that if he returns he will do hard time as a repeat offender; (6) require the illegal aliens to also pay a fine and pay any back taxes that are due.

The inaction of the Congress has come at the expense of ordinary citizens who see their quality of life and standard of living being eroded by unwanted and unneeded population growth.

President Obama has spoken about “…the elusive middle ground” on immigration reform. If we think of this problem in terms of one goal line representing what amounts to mass legalization and the other as mass deportation then the illusive middle ground must be found somewhere near the 50 yard line. Yet, those who have been most vociferous in pushing their version of comprehensive immigration reform (CIR) have not moved an inch away from their amnesty goal line. These zealots are still sitting in their end zone plotting new strategies to delude the American people into thinking they have actually compromised on this issue. A pre-condition of mass amnesty or mass legalization, with or without conditions, is not the middle ground -- not even close!

But in the absence of comprehensive reform, we should work to boost our economy, strengthen our Armed Forces and help hard-working kids fulfill their full potential by writing a new DREAM Act that narrows the eligibility to those who have enlisted in the armed forces for at least 4 years and who can meet all of the other criteria. Reluctant members of Congress and the American people will support a stronger bill that eliminates the loopholes and provides for audit and enforcement, and so will a majority of the U.S. Senate. But for many kids, the clock is ticking. The Administration can and should act now to grant deferred action to illegal aliens as soon as they enlist in the armed forces. These individuals will be more mature as a result of their military service and consequently they will be better students when they are able to resume their education.

If the Congress wishes to pass an amnesty bill for a limited category of illegal aliens, then the way forward is clear. If some of the best and brightest among the illegals wish to absolve themselves of any guilt regarding their illegal entry and presence, their way forward is also clear -- the nearest armed forces recruiting office. There is no reason why the potential of some of our best and brightest students should be cut short. They and the Congress have the solution right in front of them. All it takes is action on the part of both parties. While punishment for the actions of others is not a desirable thing, neither is the rewarding of illegal behavior in a way that would promote even more illegal behavior. Again, we are looking for that illusive middle ground of a strengthened bill and a penance of sorts for the actions of those who created this problem in the first place. Honorable service in the armed forces for four years is a small price to pay. Anything else is unacceptable.

If we are going to get our fiscal house in order and preserve our quality of life and standard of living we need to pay a lot more attention to world and U.S. population growth.

Dee Perez-Scott: An opportunity to compromise

Latinos want the President to use what they see as his authority under current immigration law, to defer deportations of students who are eligible for legal status under the Dream Act. Since the so-called DREAM Act does not exist, their position is largely indefensible.

Immigration reform is doable but it is just rather difficult when the Democrats and the President have been unwilling to compromise on the mass legalization of illegal aliens. While one can sympathize with desire of the children of illegal aliens to remain in the U.S., they must be required to earn that privilege. A few revisions to the nightmare, foot-in-the-door, act might make it acceptable to a sufficient number of Congressmen and loyal American citizens to enable its passage. The minimum changes necessary are:
1. Applicants must present proof that they have served a minimum of a four year enlistment in the armed forces.
2. Applicants who present any fraudulent documents with their applications will be deported immediately without recourse.
3. Applicants must freely admit that they entered and are present in the U.S. illegally.
4. They must agree to abide by all laws of the U.S. in the future.
5. Applicants should be permanently barred from sponsoring any other family members for legal residency.
6. Applications will be audited monthly to determine the extent of any fraud. If fraud is widespread, the program will be terminated immediately.
7. The window for applications will be narrowed to a six month period starting on the date of the passage of the act.
8. Applicants must present four different forms of non-fraudulent documentation to prove their eligibility for the program.

Dee Perez-Scott: Monkey Business for our Time

If you start with a cage containing five monkeys and inside the cage, hang a banana on a string from the top and then you place a set of stairs under the banana, before long a monkey will go to the stairs and climb toward the banana.
As soon as he touches the stairs, you spray all the other monkeys with cold water. After a while another monkey makes an attempt with same result... all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.
Now, put the cold water away.
Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and attempts to climb the stairs.
To his shock, all of the other monkeys beat the crap out of him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs he will be assaulted.
Next, remove another of the original five monkeys, replacing it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment... with enthusiasm.
Then, replace a third original monkey with a new one, followed by a fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs he is attacked. Most of the monkeys that are beating him up have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs. Neither do they know why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.
Finally, having replaced all of the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys will have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, none of the monkeys will try to climb the stairway for the banana.
Why, you ask? Because in their minds... that is the way it has always been!
This, my friends, is how Congress operates... and is why, from time to time,
all of the monkeys need to be REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME and the sooner the quicker.

Dee Perez Scott: What the hell is wrong???

Things are very wrong and with no leadership there is a dismal future!!!!!

What the HELL's wrong???

WAKE UP AMERICA !!!!

1- Calif's 20 Billion Dollar Budget Deficit

2- The Calif Supreme Court ruling that ILLEGALS can attend college and get benefits.

Why don't they just deport them when they arrive to register?

3- Last year they ran an article on the yearly costs to Calif Tax payers from Illegals
using Hospital Emergency Rooms for their general health care -

At just one hospital the cost to tax payers totaled over 25 million a year

Someone please tell me what the HELL's wrong with all the people that run this country!!!!!!

We're "broke" & can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.,???????????

In the last months we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile, and Turkey . And now Pakistan .....home of bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!

Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income' receive no aid nor do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour Hundreds of Billions of $$$$$$'s and Tons of Food to Foreign Countries!

They call Social Security and Medicare a entitlement even though most of us have been paying for it all our working lives and now when its time for us to collect, the government is running out of money. Why did the government borrow from it in the first place?
We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.

AMERICA: a country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, elderly going without 'needed' meds, and mentally ill without treatment -etc,etc.

YET......................
They have a 'Benefit' for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.

Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries..

Sad isn't it?

Dee Perez-Scott: Can't Read and Can't Comprehend a Budget

Dingy Harry Reid said, "Republicans want to shut down the government because they think there's nothing more important than keeping women from getting cancer screenings." That is a blatant and outright lie! That has never been the Republican position. They are just trying to get the Democrat’s attention. The above graph shows America’s future if the Democrats don’t get real and Dee Perez-Scott doesn't shut up. Where is the Democrat’s proposal to cut the remaining $62 billion from this year’s budget to meet the goals set by the People’s House earlier this year?

Contrary to Dee’s lies about the 2012 budget submitted by Rep. Paul Ryan, Chairman of the People's House Budget Committee, “it is the president's recent budget proposal that would accelerate America's descent into a debt crisis. It doubles debt held by the public by the end of his first term and triples it by 2021. It imposes $1.5 trillion in new taxes, with spending that never falls below 23% of the economy. The President’s budget permanently enlarges the size of government. It offers no reforms to save government health and retirement programs, and no leadership.”

“The Republicans’ budget, which they call The Path to Prosperity, is very different. For starters, it cuts $6.2 trillion in spending from the president's budget over the next 10 years, reduces the debt as a percentage of the economy, and puts the nation on a path to actually pay off our national debt. That proposal also brings federal spending to below 20% of gross domestic product (GDP), consistent with the postwar average, and reduces deficits by $4.4 trillion.”

“A study just released by the Heritage Center for Data Analysis projects that The Path to Prosperity will help create nearly one million new private-sector jobs next year, bring the unemployment rate down, consolidate dozens of duplicative job-training programs into more accessible, accountable career scholarships that will better serve people looking for work.”

It will strengthen and improve welfare programs for those who need them and eliminates welfare for those who don't. The Republican budget targets corporate welfare, starting by ending the conservatorship of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac that is costing taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars. It gets rid of the permanent Wall Street bailout authority that Congress created last year. And it rolls back expensive handouts for uncompetitive sources of energy, calling instead for a free and open marketplace for energy development, innovation and exploration.

This budget's reforms will protect health and retirement security. This starts with saving Medicare. The open-ended, blank-check nature of the Medicare subsidy threatens the solvency of this critical program and creates inexcusable levels of waste. This budget takes action where others have ducked. But because government should not force people to reorganize their lives, its reforms will not affect those in or near retirement in any way.” That is a far cry from Dee Perez-Scott’s lies like accusing the Republicans of proposing more “...tax cuts for the Rich while dumping Medicare for the elderly (another outright lie) and Medicaid for the poor.” Dee has never been able to comprehend the need to make businesses competitive with competitive tax rates so they can create more jobs. It is just beyond the capacity of her small brain.

According to the WSJ report on the Ryan budget, “starting in 2022, new Medicare beneficiaries will be enrolled in the same kind of health-care program that members of Congress enjoy. Future Medicare recipients will be able to choose a plan that works best for them from a list of guaranteed coverage options. This is not a voucher program but rather a premium-support model. A Medicare premium-support payment would be paid, by Medicare, to the plan chosen by the beneficiary, subsidizing its cost.”
“In addition, Medicare will provide increased assistance for lower-¬income beneficiaries and those with greater health risks. Reform that empowers individuals—with more help for the poor and the sick—will guarantee that Medicare can fulfill the promise of health security for America's seniors.

We all know that Social Security must be reformed to prevent severe cuts to future benefits. This budget forces policy makers to work together to enact common-sense reforms. The goal of this proposal is to save Social Security for current retirees and strengthen it for future generations by building upon ideas offered by the president's bipartisan fiscal commission.

“This budget recognizes that it is not enough to change how much government spends. We must also change how government spends. It proposes budget-process reforms—including real, enforceable caps on spending—to make sure government spends and taxes only as much as it needs to fulfill its constitutionally prescribed roles.” It proposed to prevent adding all those unfunded goodies liberals want to reward those who feed at the public trough and keep returning them to office.

In the area of tax reform “this budget would focus on growth by reforming the nation's outdated tax code, consolidating brackets, lowering tax rates, and assuming top individual and corporate rates of 25%. It maintains a revenue-neutral approach by clearing out a burdensome tangle of deductions and loopholes that distort economic activity and leave some corporations paying no income taxes at all.” This is another challenge for Dee Perez-Scott to understand.

This is America's moment to advance a plan for prosperity. Our budget offers the nation a model of government that is guided by the timeless principles of the American idea: free-market democracy, open competition, a robust private sector bound by rules of honesty and fairness, a secure safety net, and equal opportunity for all under a limited constitutional government of popular consent.

We need to “reform government so that people don't have to reorient their lives for less. We can grow our economy, promote opportunity, and encourage upward mobility. This budget is the new House majority's answer to history's call. It is now up to all of us to keep America exceptional.” Too bad Dee is not willing to help in this endeavor!

Dee Perez-Scott is talking thru her Hat, Again!

Many pundits believe that President Obama is losing the Hispanic vote because he has not fulfilled his promise to get the Left Wing version of comprehensive immigration reform (LWCIR) passed. Indeed many leading advocates of immigration reform are upset that real immigration reform has not progressed. In a recent letter to the President in response to his earlier note, I have pointed out that adopting a unilateral position on immigration reform was and is a serious error. At the same time as he has been stressing the need to develop coalitions to deal with international problems like those posed by Libya, he has taken a unilateral position in favor of amnesty. This position is totally at odds with the idea of building a coalition or broad consensus on how to proceed. That consensus is unlikely to be achieved as long as unilateral proposals and promises of mass amnesty for illegal aliens are on the table.

Written in the late 1800s when immigration was nearing its peak and the U.S. population was only about 50 million, Emma Lazarus’s famous sonnet mounted on the base of the Statue of Liberty was an expression of her empathy for those who had fled the anti-Semitic Pogroms in Eastern Europe. The sonnet is a poignant reminder of our immigrant past but the operative word in that phrase is the word “past.”

Our population has now increased six-fold. No one can deny that conditions are dramatically different today than they were in the late 1800s. There are many things in our past: child labor, prohibition, lack of women’s suffrage, Jim Crow laws, and segregation. Few thinking Americans want to go back to that “past” yet some continue to cling to the idea of “our immigrant past” without a second thought about its appropriateness as a model for the fully-settled and fully-developed America of today with a population of more than 300 million people.

Our immigrant past of the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries should not be our guide for the future. Times, society and the availability of natural resources have changed dramatically and our policies should have changed with them.

Leftist Dee Perez-Scott is talking through her hat in her recent post. She fails miserably to convince anyone, least of all Obama, on how "to get the Hispanic vote." Contrary to statements by Dee Perez-Scott, it is actually quite easy to understand why enlightened Hispanics should vote Republican in 2012. What may seem like immigration restrictionism to the ignorant and willfully ignorant is in fact an effort to preserve and even improve the quality of life and standard of living for all of us. That cannot be done if we allow our population to balloon sixfold again from the present 0.3 billion people to 1.8 billion as it did in the sixfold increase from the late 1800s to today. Anyone who believes such an increase would be a good thing needs to spend a few years living in working in India or China to see first hand what that would be like. Reduced legal immigration quotas and secure borders are essential to the stabilization of our population and the preservation of the America we know and love.

Bills like Arizona’s SB1070 and similar measures enacted by many other states and local governments have the same objective, to help us get control of our borders so we can control our runaway population growth and make the most of our finite natural resources. Although Left Wingers, like Dee Perez-Scott, like to portray these measures as "racial profiling bills" that is clearly not their intent and they know it. Rather these bills have the same objective as the immigration reduction proposals: to preserve a way of life for all of us regardless of race or ethnicity. That can’t be done if the Left Wing open-door and amnesty lobbies have their way. It's easy for the Left Wingers who are blinded by their own rhetoric to mis-characterize positive immigration reform measures. No matter what they say, racial profiling per se is not the purpose and need not be the result of these bills.

Hispanics and others who take the time to study and understand the adverse long term consequences of another mass amnesty and an open-door policy will be convinced there are other alternatives that will serve our country better.

The Left Wingers also like to criticize the opponents of birthright citizenship but never bother to mention the long list of the countries where that right does not exist. Nor do they mention that U.S. birthright citizenship is a major inducement to illegal entry into the U.S. and the consequent excessive population growth. It follows that if one values our current standard of living, quality of life, natural resources, and freedom, one must be opposed to birthright citizenship.

Most people know the genesis of birthright citizenship. The 14th Amendment to the Constitution gave full citizenship to the ex-slaves who had been forcibly uprooted from their homes in Africa and their children. If it had not been for slavery, there would have been no birthright citizenship amendment. Unless the flawed interpretation of the 14th Amendment is quickly corrected, our country will be doomed to natural resource shortages, increasing poverty, steadily increasing welfare costs and a general decline in all of the things we value.

A common language is the glue that holds multi-cultural societies together. The advocates of Official English strongly believe in that proposition. They have no wish to denigrate any other language. Spanish is a beautiful language well-preserved in many other countries. Official English merely means that all government proceedings, ballots, documents, publications and interactions with the public will be in English. There is no intent to ban the study of foreign languages in any way or their use in private or non-official communications. The Official English advocates' position and mine is that we should not be wasting money on official documents and proceedings in many languages when a single language will serve our country better and when eligibility for citizenship requires a knowledge of English. A common language is the basic unifying force in our society and enables us to communicate with each other in a civilized manner.

Extreme Left Wing groups, like "Move On", are funded by the likes of the notorious George Soros and others with deep pockets. They have been working hard to destroy family values, denigrate Christianity, and obliterate the form of limited capitalism and lassez faire that built this country to its greatness. This incessant attack should convince Hispanics that enough is enough and it is time to vote for the Party that supports rather than denigrates these important values.

Republicans have a great deal of work to do to obtain a large share of the Hispanic vote. They have to be able to articulate all of the reasons why it is in the enlightened best interests of Hispanics to vote Republican. We need their help and understanding to achieve policies that will lead to a stabilization of our population before it is too late. Latinos have many of the same values as Republicans. These values include: Christianity, personal responsibility, fiscal responsibility, traditional families, and marriage as between a man and a woman.

One of the bright stars among Hispanic Republicans, Senator Marco Rubio, has now recognized the need for measures like SB1070 to fill the vacuum left by the federal government when it abdicated its responsibility to secure our borders and expel illegal aliens. Rubio is not against immigration reform. Some act as if there is only one set of changes that qualify as immigration reform. Left Wing nuts like to promote their version of immigration reform without giving a thought to how those reforms will affect the U.S. They are either totally unenlightened or treasonous. They are the disloyal, open-door, amnesty crowd and their ilk. It is they who have been brainwashing the Hispanic young, saying not a word about what the future holds for them if they listen to these siren voices of the Left. Attacks against popular Latino Republican politicians like Rubio are the stock in trade of the Left Wing. Latinos who love this country should be taking advantage of the wonderful opportunities in the Republican Party to help stop all the forces bent on America's destruction through their Leftist rhetoric, policies and tunnel vision. They should be proud of one of their own who has achieved this exalted office.

"Somos Republicanos" and similar Latino Republican organizations have not gained traction among the party faithful because they have espoused doctrines that are not in the mainstream of Republicanism. To gain influence in the Party they need to understand the reasons why Left Wing immigration reforms are not in the best interests of the United States or any of its citizens. They need to understand why bills like SB1070 are necessary and how the potential for racial profiling under that and related bills can easily be avoided. Nevertheless, it is important to point out that if one is looking for male professional baseball player, it is not likely he will be found among the members of the local women's clubs.

To join the mainstream of the Party it is also necessary to avoid extremist rhetoric and and immigrant bashing. Hispanics need to understand and accept that Republicans want to preserve the America we know and love and defend it against all Left Wing threats like the open-door/amnesty proposals.

Gays are a part of the fabric of the U.S. One can be for marriage between a man and a woman as fundamental to our society without being critical of those who choose a different lifestyle. Some Hispanic Republicans have done long-term work for the Party. Some helped George Bush into power. Some have developed a keen understanding of key political issues like the adverse consequences of Left Wing immigration reform proposals. They may also have begun to understand the need for state action to fill the federal vacuum on border security. These "Somos-like" groups are welcome in the Party and can continue to do much good by convincing Latinos that it is in their own enlightened best interests to join the Party and vote for Republicans.

President Obama: Some like, those who characterize themselves as "True American Latinos" rather than just "Americans or true Americans", may support you in the next election. Your silver-tongued oratory still has the power to sway the ignorant and the willfully ignorant and the unenlightened masses. But many have now begun to recognize your Leftist agenda for what it is, a page out of the Alinskyite play book, and will turn in another direction. They recognize that you have compromised internal immigration enforcement and reduced the deportation of illegal aliens sacrificing America's future. You have stopped the effective workplace ICE raids and moved to target and prosecute abusive employers but you have failed to implement mandatory E-verification which is essential to the identification of both miscreant employers and illegal aliens. While you have targeted criminals and gangs you have neglected the vast majority of the illegals and the communities in which the criminals and other illegal aliens find sanctuary.

From the perspective of the people in Ciudad Juarez your partnership with Mexico in border security and targeting the drug cartels has produced few results. Drugs and weapons still flow freely across the border. Murders continue to mount in the border towns. Border Patrol agents are being bribed with millions of dollars of drug money to allow drugs to flow through their checkpoints to the U.S. and weapons to flow in the other direction. The police are being infiltrated with members of the cartels willing to do their bidding. Mexico has shown no stomach for curbing illegal alien traffic into the U.S. They persist in dumping their poor into our backyard. With friends like that, who needs enemies.

Here are some steps a coalition with Republicans could accomplish now:
1. The Dream Act is a bad bill fraught with loopholes. Ask the Republican leadership what changes are necessary to tighten up the bill, avoid wholesale fraud, further limit its applicability, and to require a minimum if a four year enlistment in the armed forces to become eligible for consideration. Make sure this is done with the vote of the entire Congress not through some closed-door parliamentary maneuver. Tell the American people all of the changes that the Republicans proposed to strengthen the bill and enable its passage.

2. Ease the Backlog in the Immigration Courts. Do whatever is necessary to create a rigid set of criteria for immigration decisions for use by state-sanctioned immigration justices of the peace (JoPs). This will relieve the burden on the immigration courts. Difficult cases related to political asylum would always be handled by the courts. The basic criterion for the JoP decisions should be: if you are in this country without proper documentation, that will be considered prima facie evidence that you are an illegal alien. Accordingly, you will be sentenced immediately to six months working on border infrastructure and then deported with the admonition that if you return, you will do hard time as a repeat offender. You will have only one week for an appeal. Family separation will not be an acceptable basis for an appeal. If you cannot produce authentic documents in that time you will be transported directly to the border to begin your sentence. We will charge you and your former employer for the cost of your apprehension and deportation.

If 40% of the 12M are Visa Overstays, their cases are equally clear. They have flaunted the law and need to be subject to immediate justice administered by the JoPs. This will remove the backlog in short order and assure that those who flaunt the law will never have a pathway to citizenship.

3. Have Eric Holder drop the case against Arizona’s SB1070. That was an unpopular move on the part of your administration and showed your true colors on border security. Instead, find a way to facilitate state immigration enforcement to supplement the efforts of ICE and the border patrol. Stop catch-and-release. Whether an illegal is caught at the border crossings or internally, sentence them immediately to six months working on border infrastructure. If you just send them back across the border, they’ll try again and again with an ultimate 95% probability of success.

If the Government Shuts Down on April 8th, BLAME THE RECALCITRANT DEMOCRATS! They are quibbling over a minuscule portion of the multi-trillion dollar deficit.

Obama on Immigration

The White House
Washington

March 24, 2011

Dear Ultima :

Thank you for writing me. I have heard from many Americans concerned about immigration, and I value your input as we work to address this pressing challenge.

We are all united under the principles etched onto our Statue of Liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” Our nation has always prospered from this generous and hopeful spirit. Yet, today, our immigration system is broken and a large portion of our economy depends on millions of workers living in the shadows. We are a Nation of laws and a Nation of immigrants, and we must reconcile these traditions.

For too long politicians in Washington have exploited this issue to divide us rather than searching for practical solutions that unite us. We must put politics aside and offer a comprehensive solution that secures our borders, enforces our laws, and reaffirms our rich tradition of welcoming immigrants.

There is a broad consensus around building a solution that stops the flow of undocumented workers across our borders and prevents employers from hiring undocumented workers. However, we know that enforcement is only part of the solution. We must also require undocumented immigrants who are already here to step out of the shadows and onto a responsible path to citizenship by demonstrating sound character, a commitment to America, and a strong work ethic.

To learn more about my policies on immigration, please join me on line at: www.WhiteHouse.gov.agenda/immigration. For additional information, visit www.dhs.gov or call 1-800-375-5283. Again, thank you for writing.

Sincerely,
(signed)
Barack Obama

(The only things changed from the original letter are the seal, which was embossed on the stationary rather than printed in color, and the name and address of the addressee.)

March 28, 2011

President Barack Obama,

I am honored by your note of March 24, 2011 on the subject of immigration. Written in the late 1800s when immigration was nearing its peak and the U.S. population was only about 50 million, Emma Lazarus’s famous sonnet was an expression of her empathy for those who had fled the anti-Semitic Pogroms in Eastern Europe. The sonnet is a poignant reminder of our immigrant past but the operative word in that phrase is the word “past.”

Our population has now increased six-fold. No one should deny that conditions are different than they were in the late 1800s. There are many things in our past: child labor, prohibition, lack of women’s suffrage, Jim Crow laws, and segregation. Few thinking Americans want to go back to that “past” yet some of us continue to cling to the idea of “our immigrant past” without a second thought about its appropriateness as a model for the fully-settled and fully-developed America of today with more than 300 million people.

Our immigrant past of the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries should not be our guide for the future. Times, society and the availability of natural resources have changed dramatically. There are several movements in the U.S. such as Zero Population Growth (ZPG) and Negative Population Growth (NPG) but they have failed to gain traction. It is as though we have convinced ourselves that population-driven economic growth can be sustained indefinitely. We seem to have ignored the fact that the “limit” of finite natural resources per capita as population grows without bounds is zero. (The more there are of us, the less there is for each of us.) We badly need a national objective of a stable population to be achieved as soon as possible. Why aren't these issues a part of the public dialogue on immigration?

Of course our nation has prospered from the generous and hopeful spirit expressed in the Lazarus sonnet but does anyone really believe that what was a good thing in the 1800s must necessarily also be a good thing today? We are indeed a Nation of laws and, although we once were, we should no longer be a Nation of immigrants. We can reconcile these two traditions by giving more substantial weight to all of the changes that have occurred in our country since the peak of immigration. Our traditions clearly need to be rebalanced to fit the vastly changed circumstances of our country. Again, why does no one speak about immigration reform in those terms rather than in terms of a broken system and the conditions that prevailed over a hundred years ago?

Although a ten year moratorium on immigration would be welcomed by many, few would suggest that we close immigration indefinitely. Instead we should limit the total immigration quota to 200-250 thousand per year including all chain immigration of spouses and minor children of citizens or permanent residents, but exclusive of foreign students, temporary migrant farm workers, tourists and others for whom there is a demonstrated need. We must focus that smaller quota on the skilled labor and scientists we need to remain competitive in the global marketplace. We should expedite citizenship for foreign students who are interested and who have completed the PhD degree in engineering, physical or biological science, mathematics, and medicine.

We need to level the playing field so that all skilled applicants have an equal opportunity instead of granting a special privilege to adult relatives of citizens or permanent residents. The new quota will reaffirm our rich tradition of welcoming immigrants who can benefit our country rather than those who would strain our budget and further stretch our finite natural resources. To do otherwise will certainly result in a decline in both our quality of life and standard of living.
Your letter states, “There is a broad consensus around building a solution that stops the flow of undocumented workers across our borders and prevents employers from hiring undocumented workers.” The problem is our unwillingness to take the steps necessary to bring that consensus to fruition. We cannot stop the flow of illegal aliens by granting those already here a pathway to citizenship. We cannot stop employers from hiring them unless we implement E-Verification across the board immediately. The best way to accomplish both objectives is vigorous and continuous internal enforcement based on mandatory E-verification across the board for all employers, public and private, and all employees, current and potential new hires.

Some say the repatriation of a significant number of illegal aliens is not feasible but, from a logistic point of view, they are dead wrong. Using a heavily damaged transportation system, eight million ethnic Germans were repatriated back to the heartland of Germany from the East in less than a year following the end of World War II. Many died because of a lack of food and warm clothing during the winter journey in 1945. They were given thirty minutes to appear at the railroad depot and allowed only one suitcase.

No one proposes such draconian measures for the illegals in this country. The advocates of the repatriation of large numbers of illegals favor a systematic, humane approach based on E-verification of work status and attrition through enforcement.

Over the past several years we have invested a great deal of resources into strengthening our borders by increasing staffing and improving infrastructure. We have yet to revise the rules of engagement so that there is no catch and release. Illegals apprehended at the border or internally must be sentenced immediately to at least six months working on border infrastructure. It is estimated that an illegal alien who persists in his or her attempt to get across the border has an ultimate probability of success of about 95%. Illegal aliens believe that if they can escape the immediate environs of the border and the clutches of the border patrol, they will be home free. This constitutes a strong argument for vigorous internal enforcement as a part of any immigration reform.

The East Germans found to their dismay that even mine fields, machine gun towers, multi-layered fences and walls did not deter those who wished to escape to the West. Why? Because they knew if they made it, they would never be repatriated? We need to take that lesson to heart.

The East German experience illustrates the need for the repatriation of a large enough number of illegal aliens to send the clear message that if you come here without proper authorization, we will apprehend you, sentence you to work on border infrastructure for at least six months, and then repatriate you to your homeland with the admonition that if you return you will do hard time as a repeat offender. This is the clear solution to border security. This approach has not been implemented to a sufficient degree to send a message to those who would violate our borders. This is the sine qua non of border security.

You wrote, “We must also require undocumented immigrants who are already here to step out of the shadows and onto a responsible path to citizenship by demonstrating sound character, a commitment to America, and a strong work ethic.” There is no consensus on this point. This is the area of fundamental disagreement. In looking for what you have called that “illusive middle ground” the beginning point always seems to be amnesty for those who are already here. That is not the middle ground --not even close. We tried that in 1986 and it failed for lack of enforcement. Now we must try a different approach. We can determine who, among the millions of illegals, are essential to our economy and who are not. That is the middle ground and that is where we should begin.

Recently, you have stressed the need for developing coalitions to deal with international problems like those posed by Libya. Applying the same logic to the matter of immigration we need to build a broad domestic consensus on how to proceed. That consensus will never be achieved as long as proposals include a blanket amnesty for all illegal aliens.

Thank you again for your willingness to share your thoughts with me.

Sincerely,

Obama Sends a Message to Dee Perez-Scott

...calling on the country on Wednesday night to start "talking with each other in a way that heals, not in a way that wounds." Obama decried "politics and point scoring and pettiness that drifts away with the next news cycle," saying "only a more civil and honest public discourse can help us face up to our challenges as a nation. If this tragedy prompts reflection and debate — as it should — let's make sure it's worthy of those we have lost. Let's make sure it's not on the usual plane of politics and point-scoring and pettiness that drifts away in the next news cycle.
The loss of these wonderful people should make every one of us strive to be better. To be better in our private lives, to be better friends and neighbors and coworkers and parents. And if, as has been discussed in recent days, their death helps usher in more civility in our public discourse [on our blogs], let us remember it is not because a simple lack of civility caused this tragedy — it did not — but rather because only a more civil [a discourse that abhors the misuse of epithets like racist, hate-monger, bigot, nativist, xenophobe, etc.] and honest public discourse can help us face up to the challenges of our nation in a way that would make them proud [and in a way that insults and name-calling will not].We should be civil because we want to live up to the example of public servants like John Roll and Gabby Giffords, who knew first and foremost that we are all Americans, and that we can question each other's ideas without questioning each other's love of country and that our task, working together, is to constantly widen the circle of our concern so that we bequeath the American Dream to future generations.
They believed — they believed, and I believe that we can be better. Those who died here, those who saved life here — they help me believe. We may not be able to stop all evil in the world, but I know that how we treat one another, that's entirely up to us.
And I believe that for all our imperfections, we are full of decency and goodness, and that the forces that divide us are not as strong as those that unite us [although some seem to have a shortage of decency and goodness when it comes to giving priority to the needs and wishes of their fellow citizens]."

The Fix

The Fix
There recently was an article in the St. Petersburg, Fl. Times. The Business Section asked readers for ideas on: "How Would You Fix the Economy?" I think this guy nailed it!

Dear Mr. President,

Please find below my suggestion for fixingAmerica's economy. Instead of giving billions of dollars to companies that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.
You can call it the "Patriotic Retirement Plan":

There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new AMERICAN Car. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members in Congress pay their taxes...
Send illegal aliens home.

Mr. President, while you're at it, make Congress retire on Social Security and Medicare. I'll bet both programs would be fixed pronto!

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.

If not, please disregard.

Tell Congress to REJECT Amnesty for Illegal Aliens!

Nancy Pelosi has called the CURRENT Congress back for a "lame duck" session this week -- and high on her agenda of bills to pass before the Republicans take over is the bill implementing mass legalization of potentially MILLIONS of illegal aliens through the appropriately-named DREAM Act. Don't let the supporters of AMNESTY get away with this last-ditch attempt to violate the will of the PEOPLE

Dee Perez-Scott: Vota Efforts

FACT: The same pro-amnesty criminals working in states like Washington to turn out pro-amnesty voters have been working to register illegalvoters all over the nation! In one Arizona congressional district, morethan 65% of the 3,000+ new voters registrations submitted by Mi FamiliaVota and One Arizona were found to be invalid – many of them to non-citizens. Nothing is more important in protecting the United States today thanprotecting the sanctity of our votes. Sadly, we are not just fightingcriminals from other nations. We are fighting our own president and very determined disloyal individuals in America who want to disenfranchise U.S.Citizens of their votes while enabling illegal aliens to register.

DHS Report on Deportations -- A Mixed Bag

The Department of Homeland Security set a new record for illegal alien deportations in fiscal year 2010, removing nearly 400,000 illegal aliens. About half, 195,000, were convicted criminals, which amounts to a 70 percent increase from 2008, but the Administration continues to ignore the millions of illegal aliens who hold jobs in the United States.

The increase in criminal alien deportations is mostly due to the expanded Secure Communities initiative, which uses fingerprints taken from criminals by local police officers and compares it with data kept by federal immigration officials. In 2008, only 14 communities were part of the program, but it's been expanded to more than 660municipalities.The other 200,000 illegal aliens deported had either just recently crossed the border or were fugitives from immigration courts.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials also audited more than 2,200 hiring documents from various businesses and levied $50 million in fines to the companies that hired illegal aliens. But the agency has done nothing to address the estimated 8 million illegal aliens holding jobs while 22 million Americans are can't find a job. Moreover, the agency has failed to importune Congress to make E-verification mandatory across the board for all employers, public and private, and all employees, current and potential new hires. The implementation of E-verification would permit ICE to identify more miscreant employers through audits of their E-verify records.
The record of the Obama Administration is mixed. While Pres. Obama has not ended immigration enforcement entirely, the numbers do not look so good when looking at the non-felony illegal aliens. The Administration tends to largely ignore them, granting what amounts to a de facto amnesty to this very large segment of the illegal alien population. It is a benefit to society if more felony criminal aliens are being removed from the country. Although the increase is relatively modest, the trend is hopeful. These criminals are the ones most likely to quickly return to the U.S., relying on the Administration’s inattention to the vast majority of the illegals to provide cover for them as they continue their criminal activities with little interruption.

The Obama Administration is treating illegal aliens who are keeping unemployed Americans from having jobs as though that is not a serious issue. Mr. Obama's constant efforts to bar states and localities from moving illegal foreign workers out of their jobs to make room for unemployed Americans belie a truly serious effort to combat illegal immigration.

Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee Lamar Smith (R-Texas) also offered a comment on the DHS report.

“The deportation of criminal aliens is only one piece of the immigration enforcement pie. While criminal arrests may be on the rise, worksite enforcement has been all but forgotten by the Obama administration. Millions of Americans are struggling to find work, while an estimated seven million illegal immigrants are working in the U.S. Worksite enforcement could help make those much-needed jobs available for U.S. citizen and legal immigrant workers.
"But under President Obama, worksite enforcement administrative arrests are down 77%, criminal arrests are down 60%, indictments are down 64% and convictions are down 68%."
“The Obama administration needs to do more than just enforce a few immigration laws. In addition to deporting criminal aliens, they need to secure the border to ensure those deported cannot come right back into the U.S. And they need to conduct worksite enforcement to punish employers who hire illegal immigrants and make millions of jobs available to U.S. citizen and legal immigrant workers.”

What is still missing in the Administration’s approach is the mandatory implementation of E-verification across the board immediately, no more excuses or foot dragging. Border security in depth requires vigorous and continuous internal enforcement. E-verification and workplace audits are the essential tools of enforcement.
